The Diverse Solidarity Economies Collective

The DISE Collective focuses excluded groups in the Global North and Global South who seek refuge in the solidarity and social economy ecosystem because of systemic racism, casteism and business exclusion. This collective is deeply inspired by the members of the Combahee River Collective who created a Black Feminist Statement back in the 1970s to ensure that Black women had a collective voice concerned about their social, political and economic issues. This was a brave and bold cooperative effort to bring attention to issues that are maligned by the mainstream.

Members of the DISE Collective are following in the footsteps of the Combahee River Collective because as anti-racist feminists we are also intent in decolonizing and diversifying the field of political economy. Our Elders, are our advisory council who have decades long expertise in feminist political economy and we draw on their knowledge about diverse feminist economies when making decisions.
